This
website is created and maintained by The Profit Clinic as a free public service
to
small business owners who want their domain names to remain exclusively theirs.

How
to have your report listed
First, please
understand that the purpose of this website is NOT to flame your web presence host
or your web designer who refuses to relinquish ownership to you of the domain name
they registered for you at your expense.
Our purpose is threefold:
- 1. To alert
clients and prospective clients of that host or designer to this practice so that
they can make a more informed choice than you did.
2. To encourage hosts and designers who adopt this practice to disclose it fully
BEFORE accepting registration fees and requests from clients or prospective clients
for their domain name registration.
3. To demonstrate to hosts and designers who neglect or refuse or otherwise fail
to provide adequate prior disclosure of this practice to their clients and prospective
clients that there are direct and far-reaching consequences for such actions.
We offer
two types of listing:
1.
Unresolved disputes
- The host
or designer refuses to transfer ownership of your domain name to you, whether they
still host your site or not.
2.
Resolved disputes
- The host
or designer has transferred ownership to you but, to the best of your knowledge,
still pursues this practice without prior disclosure.
We need to
establish that your host or designer failed to adequately advise you of their policy/practice
in regard to domain name ownership before processing your domain name registration.
Once we’re satisfied that your report is legitimate, the web host/designer will be
advised by e-mail before we list them, so that they have a chance of preventing this
action. They have 72 hours to respond before they’re added to the list. If
they respond, we suspend listing pending satisfactory (and prompt!) resolution.
If they wish to prevent listing or to have their name removed, these conditions must be met, promptly.
If you report an unresolved dispute, we’ll contact you for confirmation that the
dispute has been resolved before removing them from our list. Your co-operation
is a condition of listing and confirmation may not be witheld by you unreasonably.
We retain absolute right of discretion in listing or removal on this website.
How to
submit your report
To have
your report listed we need the following information:
-
If possible,
include a copy of the relevant terms and conditions of service issued by your host
or designer at the time of registration of your domain name, or a link to their terms
and conditions.
Your name and contact details must be supplied. No anonymous reports will
be posted, although your details will be witheld on request.
