Isn’t this kind of elitism in conflict with the principle of equality in network marketing?

Not at all. The Pareto Principle works in network marketing, just the same as in everything else in life. 80% of your results will come from 20% of your people and activities, and 20% of your results will come from the other 80% of your people and activities.

It’s just intelligent behaviour to identify and work with the 20% of your people and activities that produce 80% of your results. (Actually, in network marketing, the percentages are closer to 2% and 98%, which makes it even more intelligent.)

By the way, there’s no Universal Law that says things HAVE to be this way. We can change this. By focusing our attention, time, energy and resources on the most productive people and activities, we improve the entire environment and awareness of our network marketing businesses – and attract more productive people (and inspire more of our people to become productive) so that those percentages soon begin to change.

Resentment of this kind of elitism is usually motivated by envy, and the attitude that nobody should be any better off than anyone else. So the whole network culture sinks to the level of the lowest common denominator.

That’s not true equality. It’s just another self-justifying name for failure – everyone equally miserable, equally poor, equally ignorant, equally sick, equally negative, equally impotent and equally hopeless.

By using the Elite Team approach, we actually encourage the reverse. We create a culture that’s led and uplifted from the top, not dragged down from the bottom. People make their own choices – but the reality is that, if they’re determined, dedicated and disciplined, everyone can be happy, wealthy, educated, healthy, positive, effective and fulfilled. All it usually takes is someone to show them why and how and to lead the way, by precept and example (word and deed).

That’s the kind of genuine equality we prefer to work toward. Be sure to read our Posture Policy for more about this.

I hope this clarifies our view.
